Control of potassium intake. Revolution™ is 0.90% potassium.The recommended daily allowance of potassium in HYPP cases is around 199 grams. Feeding the recommended amounts of Revolution™ will only provide 20 grams of potassium. Also the increased feed efficiency that Revolution™ produces reduces overall feed intake. This includes forage intake, the primary source of potassium in the diet. By consuming less forage, the likelihood of exceeding the 199 gram upper limit becomes even less likely. Revolution™ makes the diet safer.
 

Insulin secretion. Standard treatment of HYPP horses involves the use of certain drugs that stimulate insulin production. When physiologic events occur, readily available glucose sources, such as karo syrup, are administered to spike insulin response. Prevention and treatment only work when the horse is insulin sensitive. Feeding feeds made with ingredients that are rich in simple carbohydrates and starches have been shown to lead to insulin insensitivity. Revolution™ uses fat as its primary energy source and is rich in structural carbohydrate, neither of which are linked to the development of insulin insensitivity. In addition, Revolution’s™ stimulatory effect on hind gut function, ensures that horses have adequate levels of energy and protein to maximize, growth and performance. This prevents the loss of muscle mass and overall body condition that most HYPP formulated feeding programs inevitably produce.
