10-Year Old Quarter Horse Gelding

History:  10-year-old QH gelding used as a hunter/jumper, stabled in a large paddock with 6-8 other horses during the day and stalled at night.  This horse is on a Strongid C program  (the entire barn is on a regular parasite control, dental and vaccination program) This horse demonstrated clinical signs of colic 3-4 times a year during the past 3 years.  Medical work-up including, CBC’s, blood chemistries, endoscopic examinations, good dental care and changing of his nutritional regime did not alter his persistent colic episodes.

Treatment:  Horse was introduced to ReStore™.

Clinical Results:  No colic episodes occurred for 7 months.  The owner then ran out of the ReStore™ supplement, and within 3 weeks the animal suffered from another episode of colic.  Normal medical treatment with analgesics and mineral oil corrected this problem. Putting this animal back on ReStore™ has resulted in no clinical signs of abdominal discomfort and visible weight gain.  This horse has resumed his normal work and show schedule for over 8 months without incident.
